Number concept is defined as a person’s general understanding to perform operation on numbers. National Council of Teachers Mathematics (NCTM, 2002), USA (it world’s largest mathematics organisation), states that “the foundation for children’s mathematical development established in the earliest years”. Therefore, pre-school age crucial period life and considerable amount attention should be paid this phase. It time when skills are attained which acts all subsequent years life-span. Studies show lead positive future it necessary expose children number concepts early life. Thus, study aimed at assessing attainment children. The were assessed categories sense, representation relation, based five principles counting proposed by Gelman Galistell. was carried out twenty four numbers belonging 3- 4 years, selected through purposive sampling method. investigator developed activities assess formed preschool found sense i.e. naming matching better than relation. relation not clear Among three areas viz., Sequencing, Cardinality Magnitude, performed well sequencing poor cardinality very important young master with later achievement mathematics.
